The 2012 Paul Dolan Cabernet is back in stock! This beautiful wine is made with organic grapes and had a WE rating of 91! Aromas of black currant, olive tapenade, and licorice are followed by flavors of black cherry, liquor de cassis, and carob!!! Priced at $15.99 this is one you should try …….. after you research the definition of some of the descriptions!!! Cheers!!

Justin 2014 Cabernet

The 2014 Justin Cabernet from Paso Robles is one you really need to try. From the dark ruby and purple color to the aromatic cherries and black currant jam, to the hints of spice and sweet tobacco, this full bodied wine is one to enjoy. With a little oak on the entry, the finish is long and layered with lingering dark fruit and soft chewy tannins. Priced at $21.99 at Costco FO, this wine is comparable with wine in the $30 range.

Canoe Ridge Estate Cabernet Block 6 2012

I know a lot of you have become fans of the Canoe Ridge Reserve Cabernet ($14.99). Now you have the opportunity to try a new offering from Canoe Ridge …. their Estate Cabernet Block 6! This wine has a bright red-ruby color and has aromas of raspberry, cassis, cocoa powder, and violet. It is sweet and silky on the palate, offering an alluring fleshy quality to its cassis fruit framed by an edge of acidity. Aged for 24 months in 100% French Oak, of which 50% are new, this wine delivers the full body and silky finish we all enjoy. With only 250 cases being produced we are fortunate to have inventory at the Costco FO if this beautiful wine. Priced at $19.99 it is well worth your investment. The wine is priced around $35 at other outlets ….. if you can find it!

Two Hands Winery

Most wine drinkers may have heard of 14 Hands Wine ……. but Two Hands Wine ……. never heard of it! Well you should get to know wines from this awesome winery in Australia. Two Hands was established in 1999 with the aim of making the best possible Shiraz based wines. “Two Hands” refers to the very personable approach taken with each parcel of grapes, no matter how big or small. Quality without compromise is the core value of Two Hands. With grapes that are grown in the Barossa Valley and Clare Valley areas of South Australia, Two Hands has accomplished their goal. Having been named in 2012 to Wine Spectator’s Top 100 for the 10th consecutive year is an achievement that has not been equalled by any other Winery in the world.

Costco FO carries two Two Hands wines: Two Hands Shiraz and Two Hands Sexy Beast Cabernet.

The “Sexy Beast Cabernet Sauvignon has a dark red color with aromas of red currant, bay leaf, juniper, and graphite with a finish that is round, yet fine and defined. This medium bodied is brimming with lovely fruit density with notes of red currant, black cherry, and plum leads to the beautiful finish with secondary notes of bay leaf, wet clay, and chocolate! Priced at $25.99 at Costco FO this is a wine that is worth enjoying for that special meal!

The Two Hands Bella’s Garden Shiraz is one awesome wine. It is dark red with a purple hue with aromas of blackberry, dark chocolate, baking spices, hung meats, lavender, and pipe smoke. The fruits crashes and cascades across all corners of the palate as only a Barossa Shiraz can. Deep notes of blackberry, chocolate, spices and smoked meats are complemented by floral notes of lavender and potpourri!! Aged for 15 months in new French oak hogshead, with 16% new and the remainder in older oak. This wine is un-fined and unfiltered. Priced at Costco FO at $59.99 is well worth your investment!!!

Both these wines are rated in the 90’s by Wine Spectator.

Freakshow is back!!

The Michael David Winery Freakshow Cabernet Sauvignon is back!!! Michael David Winery has always taken the road less traveled and has always stood apart from the rest. Whether it be in outlandish brands and packaging or their quirky personalities, Michael and David are definitely on a stage of their own and this wine showcases just that!

This deep, dark, oaky and tannic wine opens with powerful aromas of charred barrels and wood smoke. This is followed by juicy flavors of blackberry and black cherry. It is then completed with plenty of fine-textured tannins and a lingering finish. This Lodi Cabernet is aged 14 months in French Oak. Rated 89 by Robert Parker, this wine is one to try. Priced at $15.99 at the FO Costco this wine is a value. Michael and David also produce 7 Deadly Zins which is available at Costco FO.

Waterbrook Reserve Cabernet

Leathery, fresh tobacco aromatics and flavors of juicy blueberry, black cherry, and mineral driven notes are supported by refined silky tannins in this beautiful Cabernet Sauvignon. The finish is rich and lingering, and while it is drinkable now, it will continue to improve with age over the next few years. This wine is 96% Cabernet Sauvignon, 2% Cabernet Franc, and 2% Syrah. It is aged 23 months in 25% new oak. This Columbia Valley Reserve is a wonderful complement to grilled meats or prime rib.

The Waterbrook Reserve is available at the FO Costco at $17.99 and is well worth the investment for that special meal. This wine is priced in the range of $22 – $25 at other outlets.

Bousquet Cabernet Sauvignon and Malbec

If you see either of these two wines at Costco FO …… buy them. Priced at $13.99 they are selling out quickly. Both have awesome aromas of blackberry and black currant but the smooth, silky finish is what sells this wine. Both are full bodied with excellent structure and a long finish. Produced from Organic grapes from Mendoza these wines carry a rating of 90 on the Cab and 92 on the Malbec … however your Costco Wine Consultant feels these rating are low, giving them 93 and 94 respectfully. Grab a couple bottles of these great wines on your next visit.

Browne 2012 Tribute

When a winemaker produces a Tribute wine dedicated to his two sons ….. you can expect one awesome wine!! This silky red blend offers big fruit flavors and well integrated velvety tannins. It has aromas of pipe tobacco, leather, and dark fruit layer along with boysenberry flavors and a hint of black pepper. The finish lingers with blackberry jam and toasty, graphic black notes. This blend of 32% Cab, 11% Malbec, 38% Merlot, 5% Cab Franc, and 11% Petit Verdot is aged for 22 months in 35% new oak with the balance being 2nd and 3rd use mixed oak. This wine had a Wine Spectator rating of 91 and a Costco Wine Consultant rating of 95!!! This wine pairs well with grilled meats and works well with rosemary and peppercorn. Priced at retail outlets in the $26-30 range, this outstanding wine is available at Costco FO for $19.99.

Chateau St. Michelle

Chateau St. Michelle produces around 71 different wines, of which Costco FO carries at least 5. Chateau St. Michelle’s grapes come from the Columbia Valley region of Washington State and initially started with a winery in Woodinville, outside of Seattle, and later a winery focused on reds at the Canoe Ridge Estate Winery in Eastern Washington. The Woodinville winery now focuses on whites as well as having a tasting room. St. Michelle wines that Costco FO carries include:

Columbia Valley Riesling – This wine offers crisp apple aromas and flavors with subtle mineral notes. This everyday Riesling is a pleasure to drink and easy to match to a variety of foods. This wine is competitively priced at $8.59.

Cabernet Sauvignon: This Cabernet highlights concentrated Washington red fruit in an accessible style. It has plenty of complexity and structure with silky tannins. This wine is priced at $12.79.

Columbia Valley Chardonnay: This Columbia Valley Chardonnay is a pleasurable, food friendly Chardonnay. This wine is fresh, soft style of Chardonnay with bright apple and sweet citrus fruit character with subtle spice and oak nuances. This wine, priced at $8.99, is a value.

Indian Wells Chardonnay: The grapes for this wine come from the Indian Wells Vineyard along with other grapes from other warm weather Washington State vineyards. The Indian Wells Chardonnay delivers an appealing tropical fruit character typical of warm sourcing sites. You will taste rich pineapple and butterscotch flavors with a creamy texture on the finish. Priced at $12.97 this is a value for your wine cellar. This wine is priced around $17-18 at other outlets.

Indian Wells Merlot: The Indian Wells Merlot offers ripe berry fruit aromas and jammy flavors typical of warm weather slopes. This wine is full bodied with a round, supple finish. This wine had some Syrah to enhance the mouthfeel and rich fruit character. Priced at $13.99 this wine is an awesome addition to any pasta meal! This wine can be in the $18-20 range at other outlets.

Canoe Ridge Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon 2012

The 2012 Canoe Ridge Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon is ripe with blackberry aromas and flavor. This wine is accented by spicy-cedar oak notes with hints of licorice. The palate finishes with well supported tannins complemented by sweet, light vanilla nuances, some berries and plums, and just a touch of chocolate. This wine contains 75% Cabernet, 16% Merlot, 5% Malbec, and 4% Cabernet Franc and is from the Horse Heaven Hills area of Washington State which is know for its awesome wines. This wine goes great with grilled meats and is priced at $14.99 at Costco FO. This wine is priced in the $20.00 – $24.00 range at other outlets. This is a wine that needs to be on your tasting list.
