The 2014 Justin Cabernet from Paso Robles is one you really need to try. From the dark ruby and purple color to the aromatic cherries and black currant jam, to the hints of spice and sweet tobacco, this full bodied wine is one to enjoy. With a little oak on the entry, the finish is long and layered with lingering dark fruit and soft chewy tannins. Priced at $21.99 at Costco FO, this wine is comparable with wine in the $30 range.
I know a lot of you have become fans of the Canoe Ridge Reserve Cabernet ($14.99). Now you have the opportunity to try a new offering from Canoe Ridge …. their Estate Cabernet Block 6! This wine has a bright red-ruby color and has aromas of raspberry, cassis, cocoa powder, and violet. It is sweet and silky on the palate, offering an alluring fleshy quality to its cassis fruit framed by an edge of acidity. The Michael David Winery Freakshow Cabernet Sauvignon is back!!! Michael David Winery has always taken the road less traveled and has always stood apart from the rest. Whether it be in outlandish brands and packaging or their quirky personalities, Michael and David are definitely on a stage of their own and this wine showcases just that!
This deep, dark, oaky and tannic wine opens with powerful aromas of charred barrels and wood smoke. This is followed by juicy flavors of blackberry and black cherry. It is then completed with plenty of fine-textured tannins and a lingering finish. This Lodi Cabernet is aged 14 months in French Oak. Rated 89 by Robert Parker, this wine is one to try. The finish is rich and lingering, and while it is drinkable now, it will continue to improve with age over the next few years. This wine is 96% Cabernet Sauvignon, 2% Cabernet Franc, and 2% Syrah. It is aged 23 months in 25% new oak. This Columbia Valley Reserve is a wonderful complement to grilled meats or prime rib.

It has aromas of pipe tobacco, leather, and dark fruit layer along with boysenberry flavors and a hint of black pepper. The finish lingers with blackberry jam and toasty, graphic black notes. This blend of 32% Cab, 11% Malbec, 38% Merlot, 5% Cab Franc, and 11% Petit Verdot is aged for 22 months in 35% new oak with the balance being 2nd and 3rd use mixed oak. This wine had a Wine Spectator rating of 91 and a Costco Wine Consultant rating of 95!!! This wine pairs well with grilled meats and works well with rosemary and peppercorn.
